Side note, as well, I'm not sure what the real security risk is. Former Vice Presidents don't get secret service protection.

Again as Margaret points out, it's not about the fact that he's driving an SUV - I say more power to him, and I would too if I were him. But, I wouldn't then go lecture people about having to change their lifestyles.

Rob:

You are missing the point of the video: it is about hypocrisy. Why can't Al be in a Prius? Not a whole lot different than a Towncar. In addition, couldn't he at least get a HYBRID SUV?! That would make much more sense according to his message. In addition, I think it is ridiculous that you are upset with suburban parents utilizing SUVs to haul groceries for (gasp!) their kids and maybe some soccer balls on the way to practice.

Seriously, Dan? Al Gore driving himself around in a Prius or taking the Metro is a security risk. He's talking about the suburban moms and dads who use their huge cars to haul milk and bread (and sometimes get tax breaks for it).

Perhaps... but what's to stop the casual shorthand from eventually seeping into "written" letters and formal communications? I think if you compare written and formal communication of 100 years ago to today, you'd find the slang of old is acceptable today.

And, why does an email or blog post get to play by different rules of grammar and the English language? In my mind, rules of language don't get to be swept to the side in the name of informailty. Particularly instances where you're publicly posting things for the public (or even a small group) to read.

Of course, there's some truth here. But I think, for the most part, informal mediums (text messaging, blogging) produce informal communication. You'll notice that, still, this casual shorthand does not occur on written letters and other formal mediums.

[...] Al Gore At It Again If you weren't already aware, Americans For Prosperity (AFP) is, both literally and figuratively, on a national hot air balloon tour, exposing the high costs - and, moreover, nonexistent benefits - of legislation intended to combat global warming - err, wait...it's "climate change" these days, right? Whatever. RIGHTWAVE reports on Al Gore's attempt to squash AFP's free expression. No Comments, Comment or Ping [...]

Unbelievable. It should really read:

“We’re making inquiries” to see whether WE CAN PREVENT THEIR SPEECH, (Gore spokeswoman Kalee) Kreider said.
