Obama-mania exposed!

Filed under: Uncategorized — rightwave @ 1:57 pm and

Just a quick note today.  I hope you read Dana Milbank’s entertaining piece in the WaPo today.  It’s not a good sign when the venerable newspaper of record for our nation’s capital turns against a Democrat!  (never mind the McCain hit piece on the front page, but still…)

Fresh from his presidential-style world tour, during which foreign leaders and American generals lined up to show him affection, Obama settled down to some presidential-style business in Washington yesterday. He ordered up a teleconference with the (current president’s) Treasury secretary, granted an audience to the Pakistani prime minister and had his staff arrange for the chairman of the Federal Reserve to give him a briefing. Then, he went up to Capitol Hill to be adored by House Democrats in a presidential-style pep rally.

While you’re in the mood, be sure to take a look at AFP’s great new video exposing the hypocrisy of global warming alarmists.

And, finally, in the “well, at least that’s something” category, John McCain attempted to prove he’s a solid conservative (oh, and an independent, too!) today.

“As many of you know, I’ve been called a maverick, someone who marches to the beat of his own drum,” McCain said proudly before being peppered with questions on offshore oil drilling, taxes and stem cell research from a largely Republican audience that nonetheless displayed a range of ideological views.

The Arizona senator insisted anew he would not raise taxes if elected president and vowed to appoint judges like Samuel Alito and John Roberts, conservatives named to the Supreme Court by President Bush.

I love Scalia

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, the Supreme Court today, by a 5-4 decision upheld the Consitutional right to bear arms.

Duh.

If you want a good read, you can check out Justice (Saint?) Scalia’s opinion here.  Make sure you read the footnotes - they’re a scream.

Al Gore At It Again

Filed under: Uncategorized — rightwave @ 1:48 pm and

It seems as though the former Vice President is trying to block Americans for Prosperity’s Hot Air Tour event in Nashville today.  The Nashville police have threatened to restrain AFP staff if they try to launch the Hot Air Balloon over Al Gore’s home as previously planned and announced:

A couple of days ago, a Gore spokeswoman ominously warned that they’d be working to block our event:

“We’re making inquiries” to see whether the balloon launch violates any local ordinances, (Gore spokeswoman Kalee) Kreider said.

More here.  Follow this ongoing story on the AFP blog throughout the day.

Something good…

Filed under: Uncategorized — rightwave @ 10:45 pm and

So, I don’t have all that many nice things to say about Senator John McCain (despite, at least in some way, sharing party affiliation), today I’ll stand up for him against the ridiculousness of Senators Clinton and Obama.

“I believe saying no to the farm bill is saying no to rural America.”

So says the good Senator from New York.  As for Senator Obama:

The Illinois senator also chided McCain and Bush for “saying no to America’s farmers and ranchers, no to energy independence, no to the environment, and no to millions of hungry people.”

Hardly.  The farm bill has far less to do about farmers than it does about providing a vehicle for Congressional porkers to fund their pet projects.   And, the environment?   That’s just gratuitous.

To his credit, Senator McCain had this to say:

“Attempts will be made to use my opposition to this bill for another’s political gain” but the “American people deserve to know the truth” about the bill.

Ed Frank over at AFP has a good sad list of some of the earmarks in the farm bill.  Sickening for any taxpayer to see, and each and every one of those members of Congress should be down right ashamed.  Sheep and Goat Industry Improvement Center, REALLY?

So, take a deep breath before you head over there to take a gander.

If you need something to cheer you up in the meantime, take a listen to this timeless tune from The Sound of Music and think happy thoughts (no, it’s not the song you think) or how it relates to the Presidential race:

CNN at it again

Filed under: Uncategorized — rightwave @ 8:48 am and

They just can’t help themselves can they?

I mean, why present an unbiased news story when you can add just a dash of bias to make it tastier to their anti-free enterprise viewership.

CNN’s coverage of Americans for Prosperity’s Hot Air Tour launch (which had, by the way, 350 people in the driving wind and pouring rain in Washington, D.C.) was anything but fair.  Meanwhile, no such treatment for our friends at Greenpeace who also had a giant hot air balloon for one of their campaigns…

Watch the video for yourself and let me know what you think. (and then, pass the video around to 10 friends!)

And, in the meantime, let’s be honest about what the impact of the other side’s “global warming remedies” really is.  Higher taxes (over $1 trillion just in the cap and trade scheme alone according to the Congressional Budget Office - see about halfway down the link), lost jobs (there are not nearly enough “green jobs” to replace the millions of lost jobs created by these regulations), and less freedom (want the government to be able to control your thermostat?).  We must take actionnow to stop the insanity, to quoth long-lost Susan Powter.
