"They're not going to miss it." Embezzlers and Democrats have the same view of other people's money, the same respect for other people, and the same morality.

RE the "… They’re not going to miss it.” attitude:

Some Friday night months ago, I got into an argument with another 20-something regarding redistribution of wealth and I asked him:

"Well, don't you think that those who create their wealth and then get taxed up the wazoo are going to have less push/drive/incentive to make as much money--and thereby, fund your redistribution scheme--the second time around? What if the producers decide not to produce anymore?"

(Yes, I was foreshadowing Atlas Shrugged.)

The dude just looked at me blankly and said:

"Oh, that's not going to happen. These people are greedy, money-driven and like to have [financial] control over others so they'll produce regardless of how much they get taxed."

Huh. As if those who produce have some kind of innate psychological disposition to do such...at their own expense, I suppose...what with these attitudes running around.

Scary. Sad.
